Lauren & Matt’s Leesburg, Virginia Winery Wedding

Harvest House at Lost Creek Winery Wedding

They both love great food, fine vino, and making sure their people have a damn good time. With this in mind, the Harvest House at the Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek was the perfect spot for their Leesburg, VA winery wedding.

Winery Proposal

Matt is an amazing cook. Lauren is a self described wonder at making reservations. While visiting a winery and drinking several “truly miserable wines,” Matt asked Lauren if she would, “do him the absolute honor of being his wife.” She said yes. He said, “Let’s go get better wine.”

Northern Virginia Wedding Venue

Just outside of Washington D.C., the Lost Creek property sits on 50 acres of rolling northern Virginia hills. The Harvest House itself is an old plantation home where Lauren and Matt held their ceremony on the veranda. The house has a stone terrace and bar out back that was perfect for cocktail hour. The reception was held inside the adjoining Carriage House.

Breaking and Entering

We had a perfectly overcast day, comfy spring weather, and only one small hitch…a guest had to break out the window of a vehicle that Lauren’s wedding gown was locked inside! Luckily no one needed stitches and the rest of the day seemed pretty smooth.

Groom-made Desserts

These 2 foodies made sure the catering was top notch. Dinner was delicious but my favorite part was all the desserts that Matt made himself. Guests enjoyed homemade cheesecakes and sauces, cookies, and more.

Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. James! Thanks for having me.

Thoughts from our bride:

Favorite – Cake testing with champagne and wedding party.
Least Favorite – Venue Event Coordinator quitting two weeks before the wedding and not telling us (not because of us!).

Matt – turning around and seeing Lauren.
Lauren – walking in to the reception together.

Wouldn’t change a thing.

The food included with the venue.

Be entirely unafraid to embrace your own passions, traditions, and ideas. This is a day for you and your partner – no one else. Also, invite the people you truly want there; not simply who you are meant to invite. And you really don’t need china.

A venue tour at the National Gallery of Art that neither of us were listening to.

At the end of the day, we are all simply walking each other home. There is no greater blessing than to be loved, and to love someone, who is both your companion and your home. That is how we love each other.
