Jade & Nathan ~ 5.22.10 ~ Nashville Wedding Photography

Weddings

June 9, 2010

Twas a HOT day in Hohenwald when Jade and Nathan tied the knot. Our plans for outdoor photos in the field at their reception site were thwarted by the big flood–the road to the field had been washed away! Luckily Jade’s aunt hosted the reception in a tent at her home and all was well and beautifully decorated, I must say.

I will share Jade and Nathan’s vendors and reviews below the appropriate photos. It’s always helpful for other brides to hear who was great and who was not so great to work with!

I had a great time at this wedding! Everyone was so happy and fun. Thanks, J+N!

Gown:  “Petals & Lace (Nashville) –Pronovias, loved my gown and would not have traded it for any other…however this shop does not cater to brides.  My experiences there over the last 9 months leads me to believe it is much more a pageant/prom dress shop than anything else.  I would not recommend brides shopping there…or if you find a dress you love there go look for it somewhere else that understands the stress and importance of timeliness for the perfect bridal gown.”

Bridesmaids gowns:  “Arzelles -After Six  I choose After Six because of the style and the designer carried both a pink and orange I loved which was tricky!  Ideally all maids dresses would be purchased where the bride’s dress is however Petals & Lace did not carry After Six so I went to Nashville’s favorite and most well known Bridal Shop, Arzelles

Hairdresser:  “Lori Smith –Hair Ect… Hohenwald, Tennessee. Had a great time getting ready in a beautiful environment.  The owners fixed a table for snacks and drinks and we even commanded the music throughout our time there.”

I love Jade’s face when she sees her gift from Tiffany & Co.! (Good job, Nathan!)

Jade wanted a photo of three generations–love it!

Reception Location:  My Aunt and Uncle’s front lawn!  Thanks Aunt Gypsy Jo and Uncle Gary!

Cake:  “Chad Everett owner of ChadCaters.com. The cake was exactly what I asked for and tasted as great as it looked!  I would definitely recommend C. W . Everett Cake Co. out of Hohenwald, TN.”

Caterer:  “Ribbons of Chocolate.   owner/contact Pam Hogancamp 615-449-4368 or 931-334-9639 (cell) super friendly, excellent service, received tons of compliments on the food from our guests, very flexible on payment schedule and budget friendly! Would choose Ribbons again and again!”

Rentals:  “All tables (including bars), basic linens (white) and chairs along with a 40 x 80 pole tent were rented from The Event Line , Contact Kasey Hellyer 770-544-9266 ext 2″

Entertainment:  “The Joel Brown Band…located out of Clarksville TN.”

How’s this for a grand exit? Wow!

Tux Rental:  “Men’s Warehouse.  Wonderful number of locations however you must order in person and pay in person can not order or pay over the phone…which seems crazy but we had several out of state groomsmen so it was the best option for our guys.”

Your favorite and least favorite part of planning?
“Favorite-choosing gifts/favors for hostess and bridal party….least favorite-paying for all those gifts!
etsy.com is the best place to get personalized gifts and favors…I got the stickers for our honey jars from MAUpromos, the font itself was set up by a separate vendor jaimelody and the adorable charms on all my bridesmaid’s bouquets were from spaina and the handkerchiefs shown are from ccbgknikolick. Also a big hit was personalized stamps which I gave to my husband’s aunts for hosting a bridal tea for me…it was a more expensive hostess gift than some of the others I gave but the party they threw was expensive as well…anyways everyone loved them I order the stamps from lovetocreatestamps.com which like all other vendors listed above I found on etsy.com”

The most memorable moment of your wedding day?
“There are so many but probably when my groom shoved a gift in my hand when we were standing with a door between us…needless to say I was surprised by the look on my face.”

What you would change, if anything?
“Nothing.”

Where your budget was best spent?
“Photography of course! It’s all you have left after the I-do’s and memories! For real though, we opted to spend a bit outside our budget and forgo a videographer and we are so glad we did. I have friends who did not LOVE there wedding day photos and I can’t imagine that. I feel so lucky to have found someone who really captured the moment of our wedding.”

Any advice for future brides?
“Ask for more than one bustle button to be sewn to your dress… I could have used a spare after my husband stepped on it 5 mins into our reception! And turn your cell phone off (if you are not too much of a control freak!) and allow questions to go through someone else in your bridal party other than you so you don’t miss the magic of the day on trivial details.”
