Josh and Blaze’s wedding day at Historic Southern Railway Station in Knoxville was a big day for many reasons, but for me, it was D-day. Due date. Evacuation Day.
Baby #2 was supposed to be here before now, but here we were still waiting. So I did the smart thing and had 2 awesome photographers cover the day for me (thank you, Dani Rose & Shayna Mitchell!), packed the hospital bags into the car along side my camera gear, forced the husband to be by my side and we pulled into a parking spot backwards in case a quick getaway was needed.
Luckily, baby girl did not make her debut for another few days. While I do not recommend shooting a wedding at 9+ months pregnant, if one has to do it, wear comfy shoes!
It was a warm, sunny fall day in Knoxville. The sunshine on the train cars at the Station almost takes you back in time. It was built in the early 1900’s, and at one time served more than 30 daily passenger trains. Blaze is a huge wine lover so this was the perfect wedding venue since it is now also the home to Knoxville’s first winery, Blue Slip Winery.
Blaze and Josh’s wedding party was decked out in Roaring 1920’s style with royal blue flapper dresses for the ladies and newsboy caps for the guys. Feathers were in abundance; the bridesmaids carried fancy feathered fans instead of bouquets and the couple opted to be doused in pink feathers as they ran to their getaway car.
There were so many unique touches like the vintage typewriter for guests to type well wishes, coffee bean favors, a wine blending ceremony, and OMG those blue lace heels on the bride!
My cankles made it all the way through the cake cutting at the reception which surprised me. It was a beautiful day to celebrate a precious couple and hey — it’s always a good thing when no one gives birth on the dance floor. You are all welcome.
