I’m going to show my age here…get ready…
I was a competitive baton twirler from age 3-12 and I tried to pick it up again enough to try out as a University of Tennessee majorette when I got to college. I did not make it, but my teacher all those years ago did her very best. When I call her “teacher,” what I mean is 2nd mother, baby sitter, coach, driver, chaperone, makeup artist, encourager and cheerleader among many other things. To say the least, she and her family hold a special place in my heart.
**Love you, Rhonda!**
Fast forward a few years–ok, like, 20 years–and now her own daughter, Shelbi, is finishing up her last year as a UT majorette. It has been so fun watching her twirl on the field at Neyland Stadium and now I get a front row seat as she becomes a wife! Shelbi and Dominic will be married in 2016, but they didn’t hesitate on getting engagement photos made. We went from Ayers Hall to Market Square to the Old City in the chilly fall wind but we laughed the whole time. These two really enjoy each other and their giggles are contagious!
