Rose Garden Wedding at UT Gardens in Knoxville, TN

What is sweeter than having your wedding where you met? That’s just what Michaela & Charlie did along with friends, family, and their adorable son, Gabe. UT Gardens is the largest public rose garden that we have here in East Tennessee, it’s beautiful grounds did not disappoint. Here’s the story of their rose garden wedding at UT Gardens in Knoxville, TN.

Garden Meeting

Michaela & Charlie met at the gardens while they were both college students at UT. Charlie almost walked right past his future wife without speaking because he was afraid he would make a fool of himself trying to talk to “the prettiest girl he’d even seen.” Awww!! Michaela actually was the first to pop the question, but Charlie thought she was kidding. A year later, Charlie proposed on bended knee. He had been saving for a year to give Michaela a ring.

Rose Garden Wedding Ceremony

The couple held their wedding ceremony in the center of the Beall Rose Garden. The stone staircase and arbor is surrounded by two waterfalls, koi filled pools, and 120 beautiful rose bushes. Luckily there are many shady spots where we could dodge the blinding sunshine and endless southern humidity for photos.

Open-Air Reception

Michaela & Charlie’s color theme of blush, gray, and green carried over to the reception decor at the open-air McIlwaine Pavilion. I can’t imagine a prettier place for an outdoor garden party! White candle-lantern centerpieces were adorned with greenery and blush flowers atop shimmery sage table runners for a perfect summery garden glow. Guests enjoyed spiked strawberry punch and delicious food from Rothchild Catering. After dining, they danced the afternoon away as Stephen Goff pumped the tunes.

It was a beautiful afternoon and I’m thankful I was able to witness and capture this beautiful story. Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Mayes! Many blessings to you and your families!
