Parkside Resort Destination Wedding

Rachel & Scott live in Delaware but chose our beautiful east Tennessee mountains for their Parkside Resort destination wedding. Parkside’s 2 story Smoky Mountain Pavilion was the perfect venue for them. The attached cabin, Rocky Top Lodge, can sleep up to 40 guests, so their friends & family were able to stay together during their visit. And OH the mountain views!

Beach Proposal

Rachel & Scott met through their jobs and were work friends for a long time before dating. When it was time to propose, Scott asked Rachel to take a night walk on the beach while on a trip to Biloxi.

“I thought it was weird because he’s just not the type to want to randomly go to the beach at night, but listening to the waves and seeing the moonlight on the water is one of my favorite things. So once we got to the beach, we were just walking and talking along the shoreline and then he stopped, grabbed my hand and asked me if I’d spend the rest of my life with him.” -Rachel

Fall Wedding in the Smokies

I know I am biased, but fall in the Smokies is magical. Mid-October is a bit early for colorful leaves here, but the weather is typically still warm – perfect for an open air wedding! We had beautiful blue skies for Rachel and Scott’s mountain wedding at Parkside Resort. Rachel chose a lovely autumn color palette with hints of blush, burgundy, wine, and navy. My fave details were the Ole Smoky mini moonshine jar favors, goodies from Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop, and custom koozies handmade by the bride. Oh and Scott’s signature “side eye stare.” HAHA!

New Friends

I had a great time working with Rachel and Scott. Even videoconference calls to design their album was fun. Such a genuinely sweet couple! Their friends and family were super fun and made sure they were smiling all day. What an honor to be their photographer.

Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Brasse!

THOUGHTS FROM OUR BRIDE:

“…having to answer five million questions about things I’ve never thought of. Like specific color of napkins and linens, details of centerpieces, etc. I’m just not great with that stuff because I don’t usually care too much. Also, my least favorite was making all the koozies since I handmade those. Favorite: Taste testing all the tacos from CJs tacos! Also, it was a great day when I found the bourbon barrel for a guest book.”

“The speeches during the reception where we had a moment that we realized just how much we were loved by our friends and family since nearly everyone had to travel 6-9+ hours to get to the wedding.”

“The drink menu since the cocktails weren’t great.”

“Photography and florals.”

“Make sure you keep your voice heard and not let everyone else around tell you how to make your decisions. I was VERY THANKFUL that my Matron of Honor, Alyssa, knows me so well that I could give her a look and she basically made it clear that it was my decision to be made and however I wanted it done is what would be.”
